Stories need to have a fulcrum of real, powerful themes that resonate with our innate human emotions… love, anger, passion, injustice, overcoming adversity, relationships or grief… small sequences that are typical reliefs or niches are acceptable for short durations of time, such as passages within novels or short features. However, longer films need more complex concepts with powerful underlying themes sprinkled throughout! The camera in a film must be a side-character; non-intrusive and belonging to each scene with respect to the story playing out within the film π
